Developed by Livox over two years, Livox HAP is their first automotive lidar designed for intelligent driver assistance systems. HAP meets up to 74 points of automotive reliability tests and has been mass-produced for OEMs such as Xpeng and FAW Jiefang at Livox's own brand-new automotive production centre since 2021 to help customers build industry-leading intelligent driving systems that provide superior safety and comfort .

Extensively tested for suitability for cars
HAP achieved and passed more than 70 points in automotive reliability tests at Livox's own test centre. This facility is built to CNAS standards and features state-of-the-art testing equipment. It is managed by a team of leading industry experts. This facility provides Livox with impressive and efficient testing capabilities and ensures that HAP meets the standards of major car manufacturers, as well as industry standards such as ISO 16750.
Mass production is the goal
Livox's brand new smart car production centre has a planned construction area of 1,500 square metres in its first phase. Equipped with fully automated lidar assembly lines, each with an annual capacity of up to 200,000 pieces, and supported by several world-class Surface Mount Technologies (SMT) production lines designed for a parts per million (PPM) value of 10, this production centre will be located to meet Livox's future growing demand for efficient production of its own lidar core components.
Superior performance for a smarter driving experience
- Containment range: HAP's containment range has been increased to 150 metres. This allows the autonomous driving system to detect distant obstacles on motorways and in city traffic much earlier and with even less effort.
- Field of view: HAP has a horizontal field of view of 120°. The installation of dual sensors gives the vehicle a 180° ultra-point cloud field of view. This significantly improves the system's ability to handle difficult traffic situations, such as entering vehicles and turning at intersections.
- Point cloud density: with an angular resolution of up to 0.18° * 0.23°, HAP has a point cloud density equivalent to a 144-line lidar for the ROI (Regions of Interest). The increased point cloud density provides a more realistic representation of the surroundings and allows accurate detection of small objects on the surrounding road, including pedestrians, bicycles or even traffic cones.
Increased security with Ultra FPS
Thanks to a cleverly designed rotating mirror technology, Livox has developed and implemented a brand new lidar technology concept with "Ultra-FPS" (frames per second). When vehicles are in motion, objects within the ROI of the lidar field of view are scanned twice and with the quiet zone. This feature provides greater safety for road users when driving at high speed or when pedestrians or cyclists are in their vicinity.
